September 8th - Back to School Update

WMES - Back to School Updates 2020
September 8, 2020

Dear WMES Families:
We had a pretty great first day at WMES.  There were a few hiccups – but we will hopefully have those things worked out for tomorrow.  Your kids were AWESOME!  They did such a great job with our new routines.  We still have lots of practicing to do – but please tell them how proud we are of them.

A few reminders:
• Please send in utensils with your students for their lunches.
• When dropping off in the mornings, please do not get out of your car in the kiss and go loop.  If you are walking onto the school grounds, please do not gather in groups.
• At the end of the day, please wait to enter school grounds to pick up walkers until the buses have left the loop.  Walkers will stay inside until the buses have gone.
• Please let us know (office and classroom teachers) of any changes to your dismissal routine by lunchtime. If you have emailed and haven’t heard back from anyone – please call to confirm that someone has received the message.

Some upcoming events at WMES:
- Pink Day is Thursday, September 10th.  Please encourage your child to wear pink on this day. Our theme this year is Kindness Matters!
- Picture Day is Friday, September 18th. Retakes will take place on October 9th.
Please fill out the google form:  https://forms.gle/4zUP1P1h7oSgwArYA  to let us know which background you would like for your child’s school pictures.

There has been a lot of information come home over the past week, and we realize it is a lot of change for many families.  We have been trying to consolidate the information coming home on our webpage at https://wms.hrce.ca/wms/parents/back-school-2020.

We will try to give you regular “peaks inside WMES” through our twitter account once school starts so be sure to follow us on Twitter:  @WMESchool

Please reach out if you have questions/ concerns.  We will try to get back to you asap.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to finalize plans for re-opening.
Together, we’ve got this!
Take care & stay safe
