This week at WMES

February 22, 2021

Dear WMES Families:

Daily COVID Checklist

• Families and staff are asked to do a daily COVID self-assessment before coming to school. This document is updated through the year by Public Health. https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/docs/Daily-COVID-checklist-en.pdf-
Thanks for your continued support and cooperation.

Mask Use

• Students in grade 4 and up should wear a non-medical mask inside schools unless they are seated within their classroom if desks are physically distanced by 2m / 6ft and facing in the same direction, when eating or drinking, and during indoor physical activity. Masks are not required during outside activities, or for Phys. Ed classes.  Students in grade 4 and above are expected to wear a mask within common areas of the school.
• More information about mask use is available at https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/masks.
Here is a poster depicting proper mask use.
• Gator type masks are not approved by Public Health and we ask that students do not wear these types of mask to school please.

February is Registration Month
• Please be sure to remind friends and family that it is Registration Month.  If someone you know has a child ready to start Primary or Pre-Primary in September they should be registering this month.  Thank you.

February is a month for all Nova Scotians to celebrate, honour and learn about the rich and glorious history of people of African Descent.  This year, the provincial theme has been: Black History Matters: Listen, Learn, Share, and Act.  Next week we look forward to sharing with you a little newsletter highlighting some of what we have been learning this month. Stay tuned!

Upcoming dates for your calendar:
March 15 – 19th – March Break – No School
March 24th – Assessment Day – No school for students
April 2nd – Good Friday – No School
April 5 – Easter Monday – No School
