This Week at WMES

Dear Families:

Please use the Covid19 Daily check before sending your child to school each day.  Thank you for helping us all stay safe and healthy this year.

• It’s Spirit Week at WMES! 
  There were lots of bright colors today to brighten up the gray skies.
  
  Monday - Rainbow Day
  Tuesday - Jersey or Hat Day
  Wednesday - Tropical Day
  Thursday - "Read My Shirt Day"
  Friday - Comfy/Cozy Day
  
   
• Tuesday is International Women’s Day!    Watch for some tweets from @WMESchool with the #BreakTheBias
  
  “Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day.
  We can break the bias in our communities.
  We can break the bias in our workplaces.
  We can break the bias in our schools, colleges and universities.
  Together, we can all break the bias - on International Women's Day (IWD) and beyond.”
   

• Kids Run Club -
  Beginning on March 22nd through to May 17th, Grade 4 and 5 students are invited to join our Kids Run Club.  Students participating will be encouraged to try this year’s Bluenose Marathon in May, but are also welcome just to attend for the opportunity to run / practice  with their peers.  The group will meet  on Tuesdays at lunch. Permission slips will come home with interested students later this week.  Please be sure they are returned by Monday, March 21st.
   
• Registering for School
  New students who will be attending Waverley Memorial Elementary should now be registered for the  2022-23 school year.  If you know of someone who still needs to register, please encourage them to do so asap at: hrce.ca/registration .   The staffing process for next year begins in April and accurate enrollment numbers help us to ensure we are planning effectively for our students.

Important dates in March:

March 14-18 - March Break
March 21st - First day of Term 3
March 23rd - Assessment and Evaluation Day - Term 2 No School for students
April 4th - Term 2 report cards will come home
April 7th - Student Progress Interviews will take place (afternoon and evening)
