This Week at WMES
June 13 - June 17

Dear WMES Families:
Wow - it’s hard to imagine that it is the last full week of school. We want to take an opportunity to thank all of our WMES families for their continued support and patience this past year as we navigated another strange year.  

June 21st (Tuesday) is National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada.  We invite our school community to wear orange tomorrow to support our ongoing commitment to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

A few updates this week:

• Please continue to use the Covid19 Daily check everyday before sending your child to school. Students who are unwell should not be at school, even if they test negative for COVID. Thank you for helping us all stay safe and healthy this year.

• Our Lost and Found is once again over-flowing.  If you are missing any items please let your child’s classroom teacher know so they can help them check for the items.  Anything in the Lost and Found that is not labeled will be donated next week.

• Our Field Day, which was scheduled for tomorrow is being rescheduled to Thursday June 23rd. 

• Please send a water bottle with your child each day.  As the weather gets warmer it is so important for the students to have lots of water each day to stay hydrated. 
   
• HRCE Speech and Language Pathologists are offering limited virtual workshops for current P-8 students and parent / guardian workshops during the summer months.  Workshops fill up quickly, seats are limited.
  Virtual workshops are free from July 4 – August 26.

  There are a wide range of topics to support students with vocabulary development, building language skills, and boosting reading development. Parent workshops include how to help your child boost their reading skills, building language skills with books, preparing your child for primary and others!
  
   
• A reminder that Tuesday, June 28th is the last full day of school.  Wednesday, June 29th is an Assessment day for staff and students do not attend that day.  Thursday, June 30th is the last day of school for students.  Dismissal that day will begin at approximately 10am. 
   
• Next week we will post school supply lists for next year on our webpage. Our webpage will be updated over the summer months with staffing information for the 2022-23 school year.  
   
• Late Registration Day will be on August 25th for in person registration.   However, registration will also continue throughout the summer online at https://www.hrce.ca/registration . 
   
• If you know your child will not be attending WMES in the Fall please contact us asap.  Thanks.
