Waverley Memorial

This Week at WMES Sept.12-16

Dear WMES families:

The Cafeteria opened today, Monday, September 12th.
Information to order can be found on our Webpage: https://wms.hrce.ca/
Family members: Please take a minute to login and update your child’s class and teacher from last year so that our cafeteria staff know where to deliver lunches.  Thank You.

Breakfast Program:
We always have some “Grab & Go” Breakfast/ snack items available at the office if students are looking for an extra snack.

Fire Drill:
We had our first fire drill this week.   All classes had practiced and discussed the importance of having a Fire Drill.  We have six fire drills each year; three in the Fall and three in the Spring.   Everyone did a great job today!

Monday, September 19th, is Picture Day at WMES!  Retake day will be October.  Class photos will be taken on Retake day.

Roots of Empathy: Mrs. van der Weegen is hoping to run the Roots of Empathy Program with some of our students this year.   In the Roots of Empathy program, celebration of our differences and recognition of the common ground that bind us together as human beings, are used to teach the value of social inclusion.  Teaching children to recognize unfairness and to find ways to challenge bullying is often a core message.  We are looking for a family who has a baby (2-4months old) who might be interested in participating with us.  Please contact Mrs. van der Weegen at jvanderweegen@hrce.ca if you are interested, or would like more information.

Lost & Found:
Please Label your items.  When items (water bottles, sweaters, sneakers, etc) arrive in our Lost & Found we always check for names before items are donated (which happens at least once each term).

Acceptable Use Policy Consent Form:
This week you will receive an “Acceptable Use Policy Consent Form” from the school. Please return this form asap so that we know if we are able to use photos of your child as we share good news stories from school on our Twitter account @WMESchool or on our webpage.

Public Health Programs: There are a number of fantastic programs and opportunities for families through Nova Scotia Public Health.  Information can be found on our webpage if you would like to check them out.

Have a great week everyone.

Mrs. Wolfe and Mrs. van der Weegen
