Dear Primary Families:

The Early Development Instrument (EDI) will be implemented across the province in February, March and April. All schools that have Primary students will participate in the EDI completion across our Region.

Teachers will be asked to complete an Early Development Instrument (EDI) for each Primary student in their class during February, March or April. This work contributes to a partnership between the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Regional centres and McMaster University. The resulting reports provide an important insight into children’s early developmental experiences and how best to support and enhance them – we know that they have a lasting and long term impact on education, behaviour and health outcomes.

Please find attached a letter to provide further information on the EDI process, and a questionnaire for families.  A hard copy of the questionnaire will also come home tomorrow.
