Week of February 6 - 10

Dear WMES families:

Our February calendar can now be found on our webpage.  

The cafeteria began accepting cash orders on Feb. 6th.  Students can pop into the cafeteria to order when they arrive as long as orders are placed before classes begin at 8am. Students arriving late can place an order up to 9am. Students will also be able to come to the cafeteria to order snacks for recess.   The menu is posted on our webpage.
Online orders can still be placed ahead of time. The cut off for online orders is 8am. 

Our PTC is having a PIzza Kit fundraiser!  Beginning today and right up to Feb. 17th you can login in to SchoolCashOnline and order a Pizza Kit or a Garlic Fingers Kit.  Please see the attached flyer for more information.  The kits are $12 dollars, and $5 from each kit comes directly back to our school.

  

Please be sure that your child brings a refillable water bottle to school each day.

We also ask that students have indoor sneakers with them at school each day.  Students can not participate in Physical Education classes if they do not have appropriate footwear. 

Next week we will have our second Lockdown Drill for this school year.  Every school is required to have 2 Lockdown Drills each year.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

February is African Heritage Month! This year's theme, Seas of Struggle – African Peoples from Shore to Shore, recognizes the resiliency, strength, and determination of people of African descent from the shores of Africa to the shores of Nova Scotia – with the Atlantic Ocean being the everlasting connection. February is Registration Month!

Effective February 1, 2023, we will be accepting registrations for the 2023-2024 school year  through our new online portal, PowerSchool Enrollment.!

February 20 is Heritage Day

Reminder that there are no classes on Monday, February 20 in honour of Heritage Day. Learn more here.

If you are in need of COVID testing kits or masks please let us know.  We can send some home - or you can drop in to pick them up.
