Demographic Update in PowerSchool: Please be sure to complete this update by the end of this week even if you have no changes. The form needs to be reviewed, some questions need to be answered each year, and you must complete the electronic signature each year. If you need support let us know. We will begin calling families this Friday if the update is not completed so we appreciate you taking a few minutes before that time to ensure that information is updated for this school year. Thanks.
Cafeteria / Food availability Update:
Our Cafeteria is open. You can order on our website at: https://wms.hrce.ca/wms/general-information/cafeteria-menus-price-lists-notices until Thursday, October 24th.
The new School Lunch Program begins for our school on Monday, October 28th. You can check out the Provincial website here and start ordering on that platform this Friday, the 18th. https://nslunch.ca/
Chartwells (our cafeteria provider) is hiring! If you would like to join our cafeteria team please let us know and we can put you in contact with the hiring team.
Emergency Planning:
School Bus Safety: Please remind your students that the seats at the front of the bus need to be left available for Pre-Primary students that need to be buckled in. We’ve had reports of students refusing to move when parents are asking for seatbelt seats to be made available for their Pre-Primary students. Thanks for your support in this.
Craft Fair at GPV:
On behalf of the Georges P Vanier Band Program, GPV is excited to invite you to their 3rd Annual Craft Fair, a wonderful event that supports our students! Join us for a weekend of creativity and community spirit, featuring local artisans.
Event Details:
Location: Georges P Vanier Junior High, 1410 Fall River Road
Date & Time:
October 18: 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
October 19: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Admission: $3 (Children under 10 are free)
This year’s fair promises to be bigger and better, with a variety of crafts and products perfect for early holiday shopping. We look forward to seeing you there! Feel free to spread the word and bring your friends and family!
October is School Bus Safety Month:
October 21-25, 2024 is School Bus Safety Week in Nova Scotia!
Did you know that more than 30,000 HRCE students ride the school bus every day?
School Bus Safety Week is a great time to remind students, families and schools of a few daily safety tips that everyone can follow to ensure all students get to school safely.
