Dear families:

This Friday, May 21st is a scheduled Professional Development day for Staff.
Students will not have online classes on Friday.
 

Monday, May 24th, is the Victoria Day holiday.  There is no online school for students on that day. We hope that all of our WMES families will get to enjoy a well-deserved and restful “stay-cation” at home.
 

Thank you to those who have reached out to celebrate, and problem solve, online learning progress over the past few weeks.  We know that what works for some will not work for others, and we appreciate your support, and your patience as we learn and adapt. 
As someone with the distinct privilege of being able to go into all of online classrooms at WMES regularly, I would like to say how proud I am of all of our staff for their hard work and dedication over the past few weeks.  I am amazed everyday by what is happening in our classrooms, and the sharing / problem-solving that is going on behind the scenes.

When your child is struggling, here is how to reach out:

• Contact your child’s classroom teacher and let them know that you / your child might need a bit more support with something.  Please do this respectfully.  Teachers often receive multiple and conflicting requests.  It is not possible to make it work for everyone the same way, but teachers are working hard to meet the needs of all of their students.
   
• Contact the office and we can problem solve together.

A reminder that there will be report cards in June.  It is very important for students to be coming to class as much as possible, and sharing their learning with their teachers.  Teachers use conversations, observations and products to assess student learning.  Coming to, and participating in, class is an important part of the assessment process.  Thanks.
