First Day notes for families

This Week at WMES
September 7-10th

Dear Families:
Welcome Back to a new School year! We are so excited to welcome students back tomorrow.
You can expect to receive an email each Monday to fill you in on important news from School. These messages will also be posted on our Webpage each week.
Our webpage can be found at:  https://wms.hrce.ca/
You can also follow us on Twitter at: @WMESchool

Morning Drop Offs:
Busses will begin arriving in our Bus loop at 7:40am on Tuesday.  We ask that you avoid coming in to the school off Rocky Lake Drive unless you are doing a quick drop off in the Kiss and Go Loop.

Kiss and Go Loop directions:
Beginning at 7:40am you may use the Kiss & Go Loop for quick student drop offs.  There will be a staff member there to greet you.  Students get out (on the sidewalk side if at all possible) and head into the building. Adults remain in the vehicle. Do not pass in the Kiss & Go Loop.
Please never pass a bus in our school loop unless a staff member has asked you to.
Thank you.

Other Drop Off options:
If you need to get out of your vehicle for the drop off we ask that you:
• Wait until the buses have left school grounds (typically by 7:50am) and then you can pull into the large bus loop and park (until 8:15am when the loop will be closed for student access)
• Find a parking spot in one of our two parking lots.
• Please avoid parking on Rocky Lake Drive if at all possible as it is a very busy street. School street is a better option if you cannot find parking in our parking lots.
• If you are coming onto school grounds we ask that you please social distance as much as possible.

After School Pick ups:
Walking students will be dismissed after the buses have left school grounds.
If you are picking up a student in a vehicle we ask that you do not pull onto school grounds until the buses have left.  A staff member will be directing traffic off Rocky Lake Drive
If you are walking, or have parked we ask that you please wait in your vehicle or off school grounds until the buses have left.
If you are picking up a student that would typically be taking the bus please be sure to let the teacher and the school know ahead of time.

COVID 19 Reminders:
All students and staff are expected to wear a mask when inside the school.  We have masks from HRCE that we will be distributing tomorrow to all students, but students should also arrive with a mask to wear in the morning.
We will also continue the good practices from last year that helped keep us healthy and safe at school:
• Regular sanitizing/ handwashing (everyone is encouraged to sanitize at every threshold)
• Frequent cleaning of high touch areas
• Limiting visitors to the school when it is not necessary to enter
• Expectation that students who are unwell will remain at home
• Parents / Guardians will need to have an appointment to come into the school
Thanks for you continued support.

Paying school-related fees is about to get easier!
We’re excited to let you know that HRCE is launching a new system that will allow you to make payments electronically, with the click of a button. From lunch orders to yearbook fees, you will be able to make all payments safely, securely and quickly through SchoolCash Online.
Our school will post items for purchase and assign school fees relevant to your child. You can make all purchases and payments from your phone, tablet or computer.
We would like families to register as soon as possible.
To get started, please register for SchoolCash Online. It’s free and takes less than two minutes. You will receive an email once items are posted for purchase.
Visit https://hrce.schoolcashonline.com/ and click Register to get started.
Need support? Connect with the SchoolCash Online help desk at schoolcashonline.com/Home/Support
We hope that SchoolCash Online makes paying school-related fees more convenient!

Thank you,
