This Week at WMES - December 4-8

This Week at WMES
Week of December 4-8

Dear WMES families:
Our December calendar can be found here.

School Musical Update:

  • Up to date information can be found on our webpage.

  • Tickets will be sent home this week if you have requested them.  You must have a ticket to be admitted.

  • Tickets are free, but we are taking donations at the door to help cover the costs of our production.  You must have a ticket to attend as we have to be sure to comply with Fire Marshall regulations.

  • Students  in 2/3MS, 3H, 3/4B, 4R, 4/5S, and 5vS who are not cast members will be performing the evening of December 12th.

  • If you have not requested tickets yet and don’t want to miss out, you can request tickets here: https://forms.gle/PmpkyRiTyJxLYPGu8

Food Drive for the Lions Express:

  • Our annual food drive to support the Lions Express began last Friday and will run until this Friday, December 8th.  Any donation is greatly appreciated, but some desperately needed items are: tea, coffee, sugar, cookies, crackers, jam, and peanut butter.  You can send items in directly to the office, or to your child’s classroom teacher.

Thanks for helping us support families in our community!

  • Cafeteria - Our cafeteria is no longer supplying disposable cutlery so please be sure to send reusable cutlery in your child’s lunch box each day.  Thanks.

A note about email communications:

  • Recently we have noticed a delay (sometimes up to 3 days) of emails getting through our firewalls and coming through to our school (wmlcs@hrce.ca) inbox.

If you have a timely concern/questions, please email us (your admin team) directly as those emails are still arriving regularly. (kwolfe@hrce.ca, jvanderweegen@hrce.ca, cfizzard@hrce.ca)

    Thanks.

Important Drop Off reminders:

  • Morning Drop Offs:

Buses arrive at school typically between 7:40am and 7:55am.  The main bus loop is reserved for buses until the last bus has dropped off students.  Once the last bus leaves the main bus loop can be available for drop offs until 8:30am.

If a staff member lets you know that we have a late bus you will need to use the Kiss and Go loop or pull into a parking spot for drop off.

If you arrive and there is a bus in the loop - NEVER PASS the BUS!  You must wait until the bus pulls away to enter the loop.

  • Kiss and Go:

The Kiss and Go loop is staffed until the bell rings at 7:50am.  Staff usually try to stay out for an extra few minutes to help out, but if we have any staff shortages there is a good chance that there may not be a staff member there after 7:50am.  In this case students will need to go to the main door to enter.  You can still do a quick Kiss and Go in the small loop, or pull into a parking space if you need to get out.

If the main loop is clear you can also pull in there to drop off as long as there is not a bus in the loop, or a staff member there waiting for a late bus.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe by following these important reminders!

We appreciate your understanding and patience when things get a little hectic - which does happen some mornings.

Thanks everyone.  Have a great week.
Mrs. Wolfe and Mrs. van der Weegen
