WMES - Back to School Updates 2020

Dear WMES Families:
We’ve had a pretty great week at WMES – all things considered.  One of our outdoor classrooms is coming along nicely. Thanks to the families who helped make it happen.   Check out some photos on Twitter - @WMESchool. We still have lots of plans for other areas of the school.  Stay tuned for updates and ways to help.
A few important safety reminders for Monday:
• Please check the updated Daily checklist for Covid19 as well as a Parent/Guardian  Guide to the 2020-21 School Year and a Guide to Preventing Covid-19 spread in Schools on our webpage at https://wms.hrce.ca/wms/parents/covid-19-daily-checklist  .
Please review these documents thoroughly and consult them regularly.  Thanks.

• We are back to our regular hours on Monday. Any student being dropped off after 8am will need to go to the main doors to be admitted to the building.  Classroom teachers will be taking attendance at 8am and students arriving after that need to be marked late in the office so that they are accounted for before we begin Safe Arrival calls.  Thanks!

• Morning drop offs should be done between 7:40 and 8am in our Kiss and Go Loop – UNLESS you need to get out of your car.  If you do – please find a parking spot in the lot or up on School Street. Do not stop and get out of your car in the Kiss and Go Loop as we anticipate it will be much busier next week.

• If you are using the Kiss and Go loop it is imperative that you do not pass other vehicles, and that you stop at the Stop sign at the end of the parking lot before entering the main entrance.  If there are buses waiting to enter the loop you must wait before proceeding.  Do not pass or go around our school buses.

• Picture day is Friday, September 18th.  Please be sure to complete the form to let us know which background you prefer. :  https://forms.gle/4zUP1P1h7oSgwArYA . If a form is not completed we go with #1 background as the default.

• Photo consent at school.  Please complete this form to let us know if you give consent for your child’s photograph to be published on our Twitter newsfeed or on our webpage.  Thanks.

• Today we sent home information for you to log in to the Parent Portal for PowerSchool. Please keep this information handy for next August/September when everyone is looking for it. 

• Monday we will send home student registration forms to be checked to ensure information is accurate.

• We are looking for substitute lunch monitors.  If you are interested please let us know and we'll send you the information you need to apply.
